I love the new look. I must admit it did cause me to stop and wonder if I had accidentally reached a different blog. I am sure I will quickly get accustom to it.
If the above comments don't already give away what you had done, you pulled a risky move by almost confusing the mothers. You should be more careful in the future when changing things so drastically.
Also this nice, I believe the header is very nice and ties the blog together better.
