Downpours in Delft

Louise and I went to Delft today.  Delft is really charming - it raised my flagging spirits, despite the random and torrential downpours occurring sporadically during out visit.  I was soon wishing I had the wellies.

J. Vermeer, View of Delft, 1659-1660.

The New Kirk (Church), which was begun in the mid-16th century.  As opposed to the Old Kirk, which was begun in the early 13th century.

A little canal, right next to the Old Kirk.  Vermeer and Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (Father of Microbiology - not a member of the band Whitesnake) are both buried here.

Another view of the Old Kirk.

Across one of the central square in Delft.  Today was a ceramics festival and the square was full of artists' booths.

How charming is this?

There is a swan down by the bridge.
