Inauguration Day

The curatorial building at the National Gallery of Canada had a live video set up somewhere on the third floor, where everyone could come and chill and watch the election.  National Gallery of Canada.  Crazy!

In the paper conservation lab, we kicked it old-school FDR-style and listened to the inauguration on the wireless radio!

Then, after work, because it was only 'freezing cold' instead of 'its so cold I think I might just die' I stopped at the BeaverTail stand to get an Obama-themed BeaverTail!  Nutella must have been for the fancy Canucks at their embassy in Washington.  But, whipped cream and chocolate syrup is nice too.  It's really all about the "O" shape anyway.

Couldn't convince my third graders that they would like to watch the swearing in, so I missed this moment in history. Makes me rather sad. But, I saw bits and pieces during lunch duty and prep period.

Fortunately, I was able to watch all of the Inauguration as it happened and continued with the parades, balls and of course listening to all the "talking heads." It was very exciting and I can feel the change! The Beaver Tail looked delicious!

The babies napped thru the actual swearing in, but they loved the parade!!

Make sure you watch the special Daily Show/Colbert Report for the inauguration....Stephen starts out bawling until his mascara runs and his nose is snotty at how beautiful the inauguration is, and ends it with the conclusion that he must be black since he reacted very weirdly to the inauguration. Great fun!

Yes! I made a special effort to stay up because I knew Jon and Steven would be awesome. It was totally worth it.
